Atau Tanaka 

Artist Tanaka, Atau

Atau Tanaka was born in Japan and was raised in the U.S, studying at Harvard University, Peabody Conservatory, and Stanford University's CCRMA. In 1992 he was in residency at the Cite des Arts and worked at IRCAM in the Pedagogy department. He has been artist in residence at STEIM, V2, and was Artistic Ambassador of Apple Computer Europe. He moved to Tokyo in 1997 for a residency at NTT/ICC. Atau's work includes sensor-based instruments and network audio for installations and performance. He has received the GMD/WDR Cyberstar prize, the Fraunhofer Society Media Art prize, and support from the Japan Foundation, Japanese Telecommunications Ministry, and the Daniel Langlois Foundation. He serves on the board of directors of ISEA. He is currently researcher at Sony Computer Science Laboratories Paris.
