Schneller, Oliver
Oliver Schneller was born in Cologne, and studied musicology, political science, and history at Bonn University, and composition at the New England Conservatory in Boston. He participated in master classes with George Benjamin, Brian Ferneyhough, Vinko Globokar, Salvatore Sciarrino, and Helmut Lachenmann. Since 1998, he has been following doctoral studies with Tristan Murail at Columbia University. He has been performed at various European and American festivals, such as the IFNM Darmstadt, Acanthes, Tanglewood, Aspen, and June in Buffalo. He has received commissions from the Harvard University Foundation, the National Flute Association, Arts & Society Boston, the CrossSound Festival in Juneau (Alaska), and the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (Canada). His works have been performed by the Ohrwald Ensemble, the Elm City Ensemble, the Whitman String Quartet, Speculum Musicae, the Tanglewood Symphony Orchestra, and the Ensemble Moderne.
He has won numerous prizes, including the Fromm Award (Tanglewood) and two grants from Meet The Composer.
