Ortega-Miranda, Chañaral
Born in 1973, in Arica (Chile), Chañaral ORTEGA-MIRANDA studied writing and composing with Ezequiel Izcovich and Alejandro Iglesias-Rossi in Buenos Aires (Argentina) from 1989 to 1993. He moved to France and entered the Ecole Nationale de Musique de Pantin, where he continued his studies in composition with Sergio Ortega from 1993 to 2000. In 1998, he participated in IRCAM's Summer Academy, where he worked with Magnus Lindberg and Ivan Fedele. Fedele noticed his work and invited him to attend his composition class at the Conservatoire National de Région de Strasbourg, where he received his composition degree in February 2001. The same year, he was selected by the IRCAM / Ensemble Intercontemporain Reading Committee to attend the Composition and Computer Music course 2001-2002, and received a grant from SACEM. Chañaral Ortega-Miranda has participated in several festivals : "Musiques à l'Encre Fraîche" from 1993 to 2000, the Centre Acanthes where he worked with Johnathan Harvey, Michael Jarrell, Zoltán Jeney and Peter Eötvos (2000 - 2001 seasons), the Composition Session at the Fondation Royaumont - Voix Nouvelles (2001), with Brian Ferneyhough, Brice Pauset et Stefano Gervasoni. His catalogue includes vocal music, solos, and works for ensemble and orchestra, which have been performed in numerous festivals in Europe as well as Latin America. In parallel to his work as a composer, Chañaral Ortega-Miranda is a co-founding member of the Association Syntono, which participates in the creation, diffusion, and promotion of contemporary music.
