CUIDADO aims at providing the user with a search, classification, analysis, and transformation environment, also based on the principle of sound content. However, in this case the database is not limited to sound samples, but also incorporates musical works. The users involved are sound production professionals as well as composers, music publishers, and their clients.

The CUIDADO project covers the analysis process (extraction of descriptors), the navigating process (search methods and interfaces integrated into a system of an interoperable database), as well as the creative process (tools for production and creation). The development of sound content descriptors calls for the participation of scientific teams - particularly with respect to the MPEG7 format standardisation process, a representation standard wholly dedicated to the representation of audiovisual metadata.

The CUIDADO environment will, for example, enable the production of music sequences and compilations according to the user's tastes ; to perform Internet searches for pirated audio documents to which one holds copyright ; to specify sound transformations applied to a sound based on perceptual criteria.
